Sure to put a smile on your face, seasoned performers The Slacks will play a selection of original tunes, including their uplifting single Big Aroha.
The Taranaki band have been performing for 17 years, but it wasn’t until November 2016 and the release of Big Aroha that they went “viral”. Schools and kapa haka groups have embraced the song and keep sending the band videos of their own renditions.
The line-up of brothers Scotty and Mark Armstrong, Blake Gibson and Zane Greig, have played everywhere – from school gala days to boozy bars. They even got to support New Zealand rock royalty, Hello Sailor.
Their lunchtime show will be a mix of “nice and bouncy” folk rock, country ska and blues with great harmonies. The brothers share the role as frontman – whoever wrote the song gets to sing lead.
