A DIVINE DISCOTHEQUE CIRCUS

Welcome to Wonderland … Boogie Wonderland!

After dazzling audiences around the globe, as part of the Taranaki Arts Festival, VELVET arrives at the TSB Showplace in 2017.

Continuing to defy expectations with an electrifying journey to a world of glamour and abandon, VELVET is a raucous and seductive fusion of disco, dance, and circus.  It redefines cabaret.

It’s a party, a showcase fuelled by an exhilarating disco soundtrack that never lets up from the opening moments.

Directed by Craig Ilott, this spectacular homage to the disco age has it all, the glamour, the innocence, the hedonism; all surrounded by dazzling acrobatics, disco divas and seductive chanteuses.

Created in Australia but with an international ensemble, each performance invites the audience to slip behind the red velvet rope to visit an intoxicating glitterball world where the performers and audience alike walk the fine line between the romantic and the audacious. VELVET is a fantastic sensory overload – funky, fresh, fun and sexy.

Musical director and mix master Joe Accaria leads an ensemble featuring Hula Boy extraordinaire Craig Reid, rising Australian star Tom Oliver, acrobatic wunderkind Mirko Kockenberger, sizzling aerialist Emma Goh, dreamy muscle man Stephen Williams, sass sirens Kaylah Attard and Rechelle Mansour, and the legendary diva Marcia Hines.

In the TSB Showplace for a strictly limited season from 31st August, don’t miss this opportunity to discover the disco inferno that is VELVET, where every second entices the audience into a world of fun, funk and glamour!

Winner of the Adelaide Advertiser Best of Fringe 2016 and the Bank of South Australia’s Pick of the Fringe 2016.
