Starman is not a tribute show.
Instead it’s pure cabaret starring Sven Ratzke, who tries on the many faces and songs of the late David Bowie and makes them his own.
Ratzke is a masterful interpreter of both the late rock chameleon’s catalogue and his shapeshifting charisma and is sometimes off the wall.
An audience favourite at the Edinburgh and Adelaide Fringe Festivals, Starman embraces the seventies glam rock scene, flows into sound collages and captures magical moments.
While deconstructing Bowie’s songs, the Dutch-German artist offers audiences a crazy, intimate, and funny rock ‘n’ roll ride.
Along with his flamboyant musical performance, Ratzke’s between-song banter gives an insight into Bowie’s musical journey with references to Andy Warhol and Lou Reed.
“Surreal, funny and musically sublime, Starman introduces cabaret to rock and lets rip utterly, gloriously.” – The Stage, Edinburgh
“Unique, bizarre, ultra-extravagant in style and flavour, supremely talented,” – Adelaide Advertiser
